Each week, ISH Soccer Writer Adam Leightman, will predict the outcomes of every Premier League game, and one big European match as well.
Arsenal Vs. Hull City
Arsenal looks to bounce back after their last Premier League defeat against Chelsea. Arsenal has yet to find some consistency this year as they sit in 8th place in the table. Meanwhile, Hull will attempt to beat a London club for the second straight week after beating Crystal Palace at home 2-0. However, Arsenal will be too strong at home for Hull.
Arsenal 2-0 Hull
Burnley Vs. West Ham
For the last 3 weeks I have predicted Burnley to pick up their first win of the year. They have yet to win this year and I will continue to pick them until they do. West Ham has been playing well as of late, sitting in 7th place in the table. However, they have not been a strong team away from home, and that is why I like Burnley to win a close game.
Burnley 2-1 West Ham
Crystal Palace Vs. Chelsea
Chelsea have been the most dominant team so far in the season and it appears that the title is Chelsea’s to lose. Chelsea has a 5 point lead at the top of the table and have not lost a game this year. However, last year they lost 1-0 at Crystal Palace, so Jose Mourinho’s team will look to avenge the defeat.
Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
Everton Vs. Aston Villa
Unlike Chelsea, Everton has been the most disappointing team thus far in the season. They have only picked up 1 win in 7 games and sit in 17th place. Aston Villa started the year on fire, but have dropped 3 straight games and have slid down to 10th place. I believe Everton will finally start winning some games as the beat Villa at home.
Everton 2-0 Aston Villa
Newcastle Vs. Leicester City
Newcastle used to make everyone laugh, but now it is just sad. They sit in the relegation zone and have not won a game all year. The fan base hates the chairman and the Coach and want them both gone. Leicester has had a good start in the first season back in the top flight. They sit in 12th place, but have struggled on the road.
Newcastle 1-1 Leicester City
Southampton Vs. Sunderland
Southampton have been nothing short of spectacular to start the year. They sit in 3rd place after everyone left them to die. They have a +6 goal differential and have been very exciting to watch. Sunderland have been resilient which has resulted in 5 draws in 7 games. Sunderland will not be able to sit back against Southampton on the road.
Southampton 2-1 Sunderland
QPR Vs. Liverpool
QPR have been in the gutter all year, sitting in 20th place. They have 1 win, but have also lost 5 games. Liverpool is also in crisis. A year after finishing in 2nd and only losing 6 games, they have already lost 3 games, and it is only week 8. I do not believe that the trend will continue as they beat QPR on the road.
QPR 0-2 Liverpool
Stoke City Vs. Swansea
Stoke City and Swansea clash in a game that could have a big impact on the relegation battle at the end of the year. Swansea has started the year strong, but a losing streak could put them back towards the bottom. Stoke City needs to start earning points so they can separate themselves from the bottom. Both teams will have to settle for a point.
Stoke 1-1 Swansea
West Brom Vs. Manchester United
West Brom hosts Man U on a Monday Night showdown. Man United finally started to find their form, but I think the international break will throw them off a little bit. West Brom has been a strong team at home this year, and I believe that will continue as they pull off the upset of the week by beating United.
West Brom 2-1 Man United.
Premier League Game of the Week:
Man City Vs. Tottenham
Man City hosts Tottenham in the Premier League Game of the week. Man City needs to win games like this if they want to stay competitive with Chelsea in the title race. Tottenham has started to look strong with a couple of good results in the last couple of weeks. Man City is too strong, especially at home to drop this game.
Man City 3-0 Tottenham
Non-English Game of the Week:
Galatasaray Vs. Fenerbahce
This weekend is the Kıtalararası Derbi, and everyone in Turkey is ready. Both teams are in Istanbul, but Galatasaray is in Europe and Fenerbahce is in Asia, which makes it an Intercontinental Derby. This game will be very exciting, but I believe Gala will pull it out in the end.
