Fantasy Football: Who to Start, Who to Sit CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION

It’s week 16 of the NFL regular season meaning it’s championship time! Here are some picks to help you take home your fantasy championship crown and all of the glory that comes with it.

QB:

Start: Matt Ryan

Matty Ice and the Falcons travel to New Orleans to play the Saints this week. This matchup is just beautiful as QBs have been just lighting it up against New Orleans (with the exception of Jay Cutler). This is an important divisional matchup, and it is look increasingly likely that Julio Jones will play, adding a weapon for Ryan. With this matchup and these circumstances, Matty Ice is a must start.

Start: Tom Brady

It’s Tom Brady playing the Jets. ‘Nuff said.

Sit: Russel Wilson

The Seahawks are a run-first team, and Wilson is also known on occasion to scramble for a few yards, boosting his fantasy value. This week, however, Wilson and the Seahawks are matched up against the stoutest run defense in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals. If the Cardinals can take away the run game and force Wilson to have throw; the one dimensional offense may not end aiding Wilson’s fantasy value. Wilson is more of a game manager and if forced to rely solely on him it could prove ineffective for the Seahawks.

RB:

Start: Mark Ingram

Ingram has a great matchup this week against the Falcons at home. Look for him to see a decent amount of touches against a porous run defense, which should boost his fantasy production. He is a solid RB2 this week.

Start: Jonathan Stewart

Jonathan Stewart has been playing well as of late and consistently getting at least 20 touches a game. That kind of quantity makes him a must start this week especially against a weak Browns run defense that Jeremy Hill torched last week. DeAngelo Williams, his backfield mate, probably will not play so expect a ton of carries and production from Stewart.

Sit: Arian Foster

Arian Foster is probably one of the reasons you have made it to the fantasy championship. However, this week his matchup is a nightmare. He goes up against the best fantasy defense against running backs, the Ravens. The Ravens also specialize at dealing with running backs coming out of the backfield, further limiting Foster’s upside. The stars are not aligning for him this week. You probably still want him in your line up if your desperate, but it should be at your FLEX.

WR:

Start: Odell Beckham Jr.

OBJ is a stud. Every time Eli Manning steps back to through he always looks at Beckham. The kid is a target monster and a stud who needs to be fired up as a legitimate WR1 to bring you home the championship.

Start: Kenny Stills

Kenny Stills has seen solid production this year but nothing to outlandish. This week he and the Saints take on Atlanta at home. The Falcons have an awful secondary, so Stills should get a lot of love from QB Drew Brees this week. He is a solid WR2 and FLEX.

Sit: DeAndre Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins is dealing with multiple injuries. He missed three straight practices, and the signs seem to indicate he will be a no go this week. If he does play, he will be playing hampered and probably have limited production. Bench him.

TE:

Start: Dwayne Allen

Dwayne Allen has a phenomenal match up this week against Dallas. He is always a legitimate red zone target and should get into the end zone at least once today. Start him with confidence.

Start: Julius Thomas

Once proud owners of Julius Thomas are really angry with him lately. His production has been truly subpar lately. However, he cannot be held out of the end zone too much longer. Look him to score a touchdown and reward loyal fantasy owners.

Sit: Martellus Bennet

Jimmy Clausen is starting at QB for Chicago. Yikes. Anyone besides maybe Alshon Jeffrey is a must sit against the stout Detroit Defense.

D/ST:

Start: Green Bay Packers

They are playing the Bucs this week. ‘Nuff said.

Sit: Carolina Panthers

Johnny Football is out for revenge and a bounce back performance this week. Look for him and the Browns to run all over the Panthers this week and ruin the Panthers playoff aspirations.
